Its the long weekend, but not for me. I have rather foolishly elected to volunteer tommorow to go in because there are Americans visiting, and they are too inconsiderate to have Bank Holidays over there.
People have been talking about this Americans visiting for quite some time now, in hushed whispers. Why? I don't really know, but the way people have been discussing them its like they are going to solve global warming. Part of me thinks I should be equally overawed and fawning, but I probably missed the meeting where we were told why we should be so arse-licky. By the way everyone has been going on about it last week, you would think they shoot bolts of lightning out of their eyes. Perhaps they will.
Its been quite tedious at work if I am being honest. Once I found out I was staying the thrill of staying in employment soon wore off, and now I am actively envying Priya who has decided to go back to uni to hide out from the recession. She has decided to do a really interesting looking Masters course, which I wouldnt mind doing (MSc Cognitive Neuroscience). I was half thinking of following her, but then realise how much crap I had to get through to get this job, and the drastic reduction in income would mean I would be a fool to leave.
Plus part of me thinks that if I left this job, I would not be able to get another one that pays as well again. Crap! Imposter syndrome is clearly following me from my old line of work. Still I will get brownie points for coming in tommorow, and I will wangle another day off in the next few months. The rest of you please think of me when you are enjoying your Bank Holiday.

Haha imposter syndrome. Cognitive Neuroscience looks incredibly interesting, I wanted to do it once but realised I should leave it to the very intelligent people amongst us. Plus, if I could only get a B in Biology at GCSE, there wasn't much hope in me getting any Cs at A Level in Biology, let alone a good degree.
I have my first Bank Holiday Monday off from work and it is very anti-climatic if that makes you feel better. Mostly because I know I'll have a lot of work to catch up on tomorrow as no other country that we work with has days like this off. The joy...
*I talk about Biology as it was the closest subject I could get to Cognitive Neuroscience at school (apart from Psychology that I was already doing)
